House 39×56 – East Facing House is built on a regular plot measuring 39’x57’ with the road on the Eastern edge in a gated layout and surrounded by other buildings from three sides. The brief was to design a house that is simple, pragmatic, and modern for two children of the doctors, the doctors themselves. The proposed design interprets the typical layering in the modern style of the house, where outer skin has modern material as finishes.
Programmatically, the house has 1 bedroom for guests, living, dining, kitchen with store, pooja room and a servant room on the ground floor. The first floor has the Doctor Bedroom, 2 kids’ room, TV room and large balcony for outdoor seating. A small garden on the northern side becomes an extension to the dining area. This garden is enclosed within a Metal jaali wall on the eastern side, to ensure good cross ventilation and a certain degree of privacy from the parking without making the space feel cramped. The entry to the house has been deliberately made large to accommodate two-car and leaves ambient space for walking.

Description
The inherent and simplicity of the house is reflected in the usage of Wall tiles, from finish Plaster, white walls, Italian marble, and very simple décor in the interior spaces. A deliberate transition in scale and materiality is created through the metal jalli. The interior spaces are kept very simple with a selective white wall finish. The interior spaces & garden area are flooded with indirect and soft daylight through windows. This house is designed to be a sanctuary intended to resonate with the silence and fulfill the client’s requirement. The estimated budget of this house is approx. 40 lakhs.
